Dina Titus Statement on the U.S. Supreme Court’s Possible Decision to Strip Away Our Reproductive Rights

5/3/2022

Las Vegas, NV – Last night a leaked draft of the U.S. Supreme Court’s initial majority opinion for Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization revealed a decision to strike down the landmark Roe v. Wade precedent. Rep. Dina Titus, candidate for Congress in NV-01, released the following statement in response:

“If this report is true, I am saddened but not surprised that after years of Republican efforts, this court plans to strike down Roe v. Wade and take women’s personal health care decisions away from us.”

“This decision would be unprecedented and devastating, but it is not the end of the fight. I am deeply committed to ensuring that this country does not turn back the clock on women’s equality. That’s why I proudly co-sponsored and voted to pass the Women’s Health Protection Act. I have repeatedly called for the Senate to end the filibuster in order to pass this critical bill.”

“Every one of my GOP opponents supports the assault on women's right to make our own health care decisions. It is more important than ever that in this election, the overwhelming majority of pro-choice voters in Southern Nevada make our voices heard and reject anti-choice candidates who would block Congress from codifying Roe into law.”

“I fought on this issue when Nevada locked in Roe v. Wade with Question 7 in 1990 and will continue this fight in Congress.”
